If Your Child Is Struggling to Read, This School Was Built for Them
You don't need a diagnosis to walk through our doors. You just need a child who deserves a school that actually works for the way their brain learns.

Every student at Feller is different. But most of them have a few things in common when they first walk through our doors.
They sit down, they try, they practice — and it still doesn't click. It's not effort that's missing. It's the right environment and the right methods.
They can explain things brilliantly out loud, but reading and writing feel like a wall they can't get over. Their intelligence is real — it just needs a different path.
They've said "I'm dumb" or "I can't do it." They've watched classmates move ahead while they fall behind. Rebuilding that belief is something we work on every single day.
If your child has a diagnosis, Feller is built for exactly what they need — proven methods, specialist teachers, and a classroom where they're not the exception.
Many of our students arrive without a diagnosis. If your gut is telling you something is off, that's enough to start a conversation with us.
When school stops feeling safe, kids stop trying. Feller is a place where that changes — often faster than parents expect.
In Their Own Words
These are real parents — sharing what it felt like before Feller, and what changed after. We didn't write these. We didn't coach them. We just showed up and did our job.
"He said, I feel like everybody else is a tree growing, and I'm still a seed in the ground. He would say he was dumb and stupid all the time. And you don't want to hear your kid saying that about themselves."
— Colin's Mom"We started in January. It's now May. He is a totally different kid. He reads things, he's more likely to share opinions, he just feels good about himself — and he loves going to school. That's not something I've ever seen before."
— Matthew's Mom"My son isn't angry anymore about reading. In four weeks at Feller he was reading. They just do school right. They do what our kids need."
— Diego's Mom"Before Feller, every day she woke up saying I don't want to go. The minute she walked in, she felt a new confidence. Now she says, I want to read all the books. I want to do it."
— Nora's Mom"Lola's confidence has gone from a 3 or 4 to an 8 or 9. She comes home telling us stories about school, the great things she did, the friends she made. It's really been night and day."
— Lola's Dad"Honestly it was the best decision we made. Within just a week or two we noticed he was ecstatically happy coming here — and that maintained throughout the entire year."
— Peter's Mom"His anger issues came because he didn't understand he had dyslexia. Now he knows how to manage his anger — and he knows how to read. It will change your son and your life forever."
— Jayden's Mom"The frustrating part is the student has to fail so much along the way and prove that they're failing, instead of just identifying the problem and figuring out a way to move forward."
— Avery's MomWe Hear This a Lot
Most families who end up at Feller had at least one of these thoughts before they reached out. Here's what we'd say back.
"My child doesn't have a formal diagnosis."
A diagnosis is not required to enroll at Feller. Many of our students arrive without one — just a parent's instinct that something isn't right and a child who's been struggling. If you see the signs, that's enough to start the conversation.
"I'm not sure my child is struggling enough."
Parents who said this in September were often in tears of relief by May. Early support leads to significantly better outcomes — there's no such thing as getting help too soon. If your child is showing signs, now is the right time.
"The cost feels out of reach."
We understand. Financial assistance is available at Feller School — we never want cost to be the reason a child doesn't get the support they need. Reach out and let's have that conversation. We'll do everything we can to help you find a path forward.
Feller Serves Students in Grades K–6
Most students who come to us are in 2nd through 4th grade — often after a year or two of watching their child struggle while waiting for the school system to catch up. But we welcome students at any grade level within our K–6 program.
Students above 6th grade are not currently served by our elementary program — but reach out and we'll do our best to point you in the right direction.
"It is your decision. But it's always better to go with what your gut tells you. Think about what you need instead of what you want."
