Our Curriculum
A Curriculum Built for the Way These Kids Learn
Every subject at Feller School is chosen and taught with one goal in mind — giving kids with dyslexia the foundation they need to succeed, not just here, but everywhere they go next.
We are confident that all students who enter Kindergarten and finish Third Grade at Feller School will be able to read — skilled and prepared to excel at any school.

A Full Education — Built Around Reading
Hands-on, multi-sensory learning is far more effective for students with dyslexia than screens. At Feller, students learn through movement, games, writing, and direct instruction — not devices.
Logic of English™ — The Science of Reading in Action
Feller School's reading instruction is based on logic and decades of brain research. Our primary curriculum is the Logic of English™ — a multi-sensory, structured, phonics-based approach grounded in the Science of Reading.
LOE is based on Orton-Gillingham methodology and includes reading, spelling, grammar, and handwriting. Students don't guess at words — they learn the rules that govern the English language and apply them.

Math-U-See® — Hands-On, Mastery-Based Math
Math-U-See is a complete, skill-based, multi-sensory mastery curriculum for grades K–12. It teaches students specific skills in a definite, logical sequence — so students understand not just how to solve a problem, but why it's solved that way.
Unlike traditional grade-level systems, Math-U-See allows students to move at their own pace. Once a concept is mastered, they move forward — no one gets pushed ahead before they're ready.

Core Knowledge® — Building Real World Knowledge
We use Core Knowledge History and Geography — a comprehensive program covering world and American history, geography, civics, and the arts. Each grade explores a different era and region of the world, from Ancient Egypt in 1st grade to Medieval Europe and the American Revolution in 4th grade.

Science at Feller is taught through the Core Knowledge Science curriculum — a structured, grade-by-grade approach that builds on what students learned the year before. Topics include living things, weather patterns, the human body, ecology, geology, light and sound, electricity, and more.
For students who struggle with reading, science class is often where they shine. The hands-on, curiosity-driven nature gives every kind of learner a chance to excel.

More Than Reading
A Feller School education is a full education. Here's what else students experience every week.
Art
Many dyslexic learners are gifted creatively. Art class gives students a space to express themselves and discover strengths that academic subjects don't always reveal.
Music
Music supports language learning. Students develop rhythm, pattern recognition, and auditory processing — all of which reinforce literacy development.
Physical Education
Movement isn't just a break from learning — it's part of it. PE helps students regulate, focus, and return to the classroom ready to do their best work.
